Youth Council & Engagement

As a Bothell City Councilmember, I believe that building a thriving, inclusive future for Bothell means investing not only in infrastructure and policy, but also in people. That includes elevating every voice, from longtime residents to the next generation of leaders. Our commitment to housing, environmental stewardship, public safety, and civic engagement is rooted in the belief that everyone deserves a role in shaping our community.

That’s why I am championing the creation of a Youth City Council in Bothell, just as our neighbors in Lynnwood and Auburn have engaged youth in their processes. This initiative will provide middle and high school students a seat at the table, offering insights on topics like parks, public safety, transportation, and climate policy. Through this council, students will gain hands-on experience with local government, develop leadership skills, and play a meaningful role in shaping the city they call home.

Just as we invest in sustainable neighborhoods and climate resilience, we must also invest in democratic participation. By giving young people the tools and platforms to engage early, we’re ensuring a more informed, connected, and inspired population—one that will carry Bothell forward with creativity, compassion, and accountability. This is how we secure a city that doesn’t just grow, but grows together.
